Dr. Bob Polisky is a Chicago native. He attended Mather High School, The University of Illinois and The Chicago Medical School. Dr. Polisky became board certified in Internal Medicine as well as Dermatology, completing training in both specialties at Vancouver General Hospital and Cook County Hospital. He was Chief Resident at Cook County Hospital where he developed a medical device to suppress formation of keloids.
Dr. Polisky puts a strong emphasis on continued medical education and development. The doctor authored numerous articles on dermatology which were published in the Alexia Hospital Medical Review. He has given numerous tumor board presentations as well as lecturing the departments of Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Podiatry about care, recognition, and treatment of dermatologic disorders. In addition, the doctor worked with the department of Public Health at the University of Illinois on contact dermatitis and industrial causes of skin problems. He presented a talk on plant dermatitis called “Ferocious Flowers”.
Dr. Polisky participates in public outreach programs with Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Students of Chicago Medical School and the Physician Assistant program of Midwest University to come to the office for a rigorous and structured dermatology rotation of 4 week durations. The rotation has received excellent reviews by the students.
Dr. Polisky was awarded a grant from the Chicago Medical Society of which he has been a regular member. He studied bleeding in surgery and found a novel way to reduce pain and bleeding by buffering local anesthesia. In addition he was invited to present a rare case of Parry Romberg syndrome at the Israel Dermatologic Society and the office has been used to conduct a research study on scalp foam products which treat various skin conditions.
Dr. Polisky finds time for daily study outside the realm of medicine and he enjoys spending time with his 2 teen age daughters and his wife Dr. Ellen. The family enjoys learning languages, singing, studying ancient Jewish texts and traveling.
